Top 5 Hip Hop Responses to Kendrick Lamar's "Watch The Party Die"

2024 was a good year for Hip Hop.

From eye-opening new music and artists, to culture-shifting beefs on wax, this year had it all. One hip-hop phenomenon that has gone relatively under the radar was Kendrick Lamar's powerful "untitled" release on his Instagram Page.

Using an image of black Nike Air Force Ones, Kendrick penned a haunting, lyrical call to action, for his fans. A direct and aggressive track, Kendrick skillfully rhymes his disdain and disappointment with the music industry. He dropped the track just weeks after securing his coveted spot as feature Artist for the upcoming Super Bowl LIX, leaving fans unsure if this was just another part of his saga with Drake, or was Kendrick setting his sights on something much bigger, wider?

I break down my thoughts on what Kendrick is saying in that song, on my livestream "How Billy Sees It", here. Whatever his intentions ... Kendrick inspired replies from the internet and from his Hip Hop peers, some of whom he called out directly.

Better than a Battle - Kendrick created the space for a CONVERSATION between artists who feel and can connect on this vibration.

Here is my list of the top 5 replies to Kendrick Lamar's Untitled track, or "Watch the Party Die".

  1. Billy the Process - Don't Watch The Party Die

  2. Dee-1 - Call it Like it Is

  3. Conscious - To Be or Not to Be
